The following Bible verses will guide you on ways to counter bad dreams brought to you by the devil.

Proverbs 3:24 -God is our protector and guidance

“When thou liest down, thou shalt not be afraid: yea, thou shalt lie down, and thy sleep shall be sweet.”

Proverbs 3:24KJV

Proverbs 3_24

Please, Lord, I would like to express my gratitude for everything you did for me today. I ask that you serve as my protector and grant me peaceful dreams as I sleep.

Please, Lord, shield me from any nightmares that the stresses of this world have ingrained in my mind.

God of Strength, according to your word, I won’t be terrified when I lie down. I’ve had a lot of awful nightmares that have made me feel terrified, doubtful, and despairing, but I pray that they won’t come true. In the name of Jesus, amen.

2 Timothy 1:7 – God gave us the spirit of boldness and not of fear

“For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.”

2 Timothy 1:7 (KJV)

2 Timothy 1_7

Prince of Peace, I am confident that You did not grant me a spirit of fear. But due to my bad dreams, I feel afraid when I sleep.

Right now, cover me with Your word. You have bestowed upon me the spirit of might, love, and sound mind. My peace, which You have promised, will no longer be taken away by the bad dreams the enemy has planted in my life. Amen.

James 4:7 – Submitting ourselves to God will make the devil flee away from us

Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

James 4:7 (NIV)

James 4_7

Holy Lord, I give myself over to You; I am aware that everything I am and possess is not mine but a part of You. Even my sleep is yours, Lord.

Even though I’ve resisted him, the devil still comes after me at night in the form of nightmares. Because I am Yours, I pray that the devil will leave me alone.

I fervently hope that my bad dreams will disappear. Lord, be with me tonight and watch me as I sleep. Amen.

 Luke 10:19 (NIV)

Luke 10_19

God the Father, I adore You because You gave me the ability to overcome the enemy’s might, including scorpions and snakes, and nothing can harm me in any way; Lord, in you, I exercise my authority, particularly at night when I dream.

I step on the entrance the enemy used to get inside and sabotage my dreams. I hope my bad dreams haven’t harmed me. Amen.

Lord, the enemy attacks more keenly at night, especially when I’m trying to sleep. I am aware that the thief intends to steal, kill, and destroy, but I do not belong to the thief.

I am Yours, and You came that I might have life and that I might have it more abundantly. Lord, I ask for a lot of energy in my dreams. Take away all of my bad dreams. I need some peace to sleep. Amen.

Isaiah 54:17 – God is our protector, so no evil can come near us

Isaiah 54_17

Lord, I’m grateful that you gave me the courage to wake up from this terrifying dream.

I renounce the evil one’s plans for my life, Father. In the name of Jesus, no weapon raised against me shall prosper. I leave and control every negative dream has over me.

Lord, you said in your word that I should not fear the terror of the night, and you have given me the ability to step on snakes and scorpions.

I can rebuke the evil one’s tricks in my dreams and undo the negative effects they have on my life using that power you gave me. Let me dream a peaceful dream as I sleep, and dreams that will bring me prosperity and happiness in Jesus’ name; amen.

Ephesians 6_12

Dear Eternal God, I am aware that our battle is not with people but with rulers of this world’s darkness, principalities, and powers, as well as with spiritual wickedness in high places.

I’m also aware that the acts of spiritual wickedness in high places are what are causing these bad dreams. But Father, I pray in opposition to the enemy’s schemes. In my sleep, I offer peace prayers because it is in Your authority, not in mine, that I stand. Amen.

be glad and rejoice.
Surely the Lord has done great things!

Joel 2:21 (NIV)

God of Creation, blessed be Your holy name! You are deserving of praise, Dear Lord. I’ve been plagued by bad dreams for far too long, but I’m not afraid. You’ll do great things, so I’ll be glad and triumphant.

Your power can eliminate the nightmares that keep me awake at night because You are the source of all goodness. Father, grant me pleasant dreams and a restful night’s sleep. Amen.

O Mighty God, I pray right now for protection from my nightmares. You have given me the authority that what I bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and what I lose on earth will be released in heaven; I pray in the name of Jesus.

I bind up the intrusions the enemy has made into my sleep. When I lay my head to rest, please grant me sweet dreams from God. I ask God to foil the enemy’s schemes to keep me awake. Amen.
