Bible Verses for Comfort after a Breakup

You’re certainly not alone if you’ve recently broken up with someone, and numerous people break up daily. However, if you need comfort from the pain of a failed relationship, here are some biblical verses for comfort after a breakup.

Romans 8:28

“And we know that all things work together for good for those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”

Romans 8:28

Romans 8_28

No matter how “bad” things may seem, everything works together for the greater good. I never feel counted out. Instead, we should focus on the more important truth that God is more significant than all our tragedies and heartbreak men may put us through. All things we may see as losses and failures are a path to a successful tomorrow.

Evil doesn’t win. God entered our brokenness and redeemed it in Christ’s death and resurrection.

Isaiah 43:18

“Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past.”

Isaiah 43:18

God does not keep count of our past mistakes, so we don’t have to either. Whatever happened in the past should always remain in the past; whatever you might have done wrong that prompted the breakup shouldn’t be seen in your present life.

God knows why that happened; it was for a purpose, so you should never dwell on it or remind yourself about it.

Most problems men face today result from the past they brought into their present, finding it very difficult to forgive themselves for the mistake they made in the past. We are to forget about our past because God isn’t counting our past mistakes.

Isaiah 41:10

“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, I will help you; I will uphold you with my righteous hand.”

Isaiah 41:10

Remember that you are not alone when feeling lost amidst heartbreak; the Lord is beside you to give you strength. Most time, we are afraid of losing people who we think are the source of our survival, but in its real sense, no man is the reason for our survival or deserves the praise we give them.

As believers, we should always know and remember that God is behind every help men might give us and that without God, no man can help us, so it is only God who deserves our praise and worship at all times.

So we shouldn’t be afraid or worried when men break up with us, for God will always give us other people and strength.

Romans 5:8

“But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”

Romans 5:8

God will always be there for you and love you no matter what you go through or where you are. Worldly love is selfish, self-serving, and cares more for what it gets from a relationship than what it gives to that relationship.

Many marriages and friendships fail because this is the type of love the participants exhibit. Only when relationships are built on God’s love will they flourish, and God’s love is sure.

Many times, worldly love is fickle. Those who claim they love us are there during the good times but are conspicuously absent when the going gets rough. God will not leave us in tough times. Jesus’ promise is, “I will never leave nor forsake you.” God loves us whether we respond to Him in love or not. His love for us is not based on our response but on His character.
