Proverbs 13:22 – Legacy

1 Timothy 5:8 – Providing for a family is essential to one’s faith.
But if anyone does not provide for his relatives, and especially for members of his household, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.

In this passage, Paul issued a directive to those responsible for taking care of their household members. One person may not be able to care for every relative, but they are still expected to take care of the family as a whole.

The crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge of the earth, would bestow upon him when He returns in the clouds to take the Church to be with Him, as well as to all who have longed for His appearing, was reserved for Paul in the life to come after he had finished the work that God had given him to do.
Paul tried his best to leave Timothy with a positive legacy. And that is expected of us as good husbands also.
2 Timothy 3:14-15 – Paul’s Encouragement.
But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have firmly believed, knowing from whom you learned it and how from childhood you have been acquainted with the sacred writings, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus.

But as for you, Paul tells Timothy, underlining that Timothy’s calling and conduct had nothing to do with the deeds of these wicked men and the need he should be different. Timothy was a devout Christian who was well-known to Paul and the people he commanded.
Paul provided this encouragement with three obvious justifications. Timothy was first instructed to be true to the principles he was already following.
As Paul did his best to leave a good legacy to Timothy, we as good husbands should do our best to leave an excellent gift to our children.
Colossians 3:12-14 – Compassion.

The first good habit Paul recommends is having a compassionate heart. This is an attitude toward God and other people motivated by love and care rather than self-interest.
A decent spouse should impart to his children the importance of treating others with respect. He will give the kids a positive legacy if he does this.
Philippians 2:3-4 – Teaching children to know God.
Do nothing from rivalry or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others.

At the very end of his life, Paul prayed fervently, “That I may know Christ.” This should be our sincere wish both today and forever. And as we grow closer to Christ, may we grow in our love for others and our ability to put others before ourselves.
