Trust is a vital element of any relationship. Like a foundation, trust is the key to a relationship’s strength and stability. Christians can be entrusted with preaching the Bible verse that closely reflects what they have learned about trust in relationships – and it may surprise you.

Keeping a healthy relationship with God is a must. The key to this relationship is trust (1 Corinthians 13:4). So it’s vital that we let go of what we think we know and try to learn from God by trusting Him.

Bible verses about trust in relationships

Trusting others is an essential tool for a healthy relationship. Just as God tells us to love our neighbors, we need to be willing to trust them in return. Every relationship begins with trust, so here are 17 important Bible verses about trust in relationships.

John 14:15-17 – Love one another precisely as Christ loved us.

“If you love me, keep my commands. And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever—the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you.”

John 14:15-17 (KJV)

John 14_15-17 - Love One Another Precisely As Christ Loved Us

We are commanded to love one another exactly as Christ loved us. When we abide in His love and walk in spirit and truth, Spiritly fulfills the new commandment that the Lord Jesus gave to His disciples just before His death and resurrection. The commands of Christ are different from those assigned to Israel and so much more glorious.

I will ask the Father, and He will grant you another Helper so that He may be with you forever. Jesus had just informed His people that whoever has seen Him has seen the Father.

Ephesians 3:17 – Immerse yourself in God’s word.

That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love,

 Ephesians 3:17 (KJV)

Ephesians 3_17 - Immerse Yourself In God'S Word

God established that we would be His place of residence. The Holy Spirit yearns to reside in this secret location, which is located very deep inside the hearts of people. God wants each of His children to have Christ as their personal Savior. God wants the Spirit of Christ to dwell and rest in us as we rest in Him and His love.

As we follow His lead and pay attention to His voice, we can also experience amazing communion with Him. To do this, we must immerse ourselves entirely in the sustaining reality of His Word. For Christ to live in our hearts through faith, we must claim the promise and prayer that Paul prayed for us.

Isaiah 58:14 – God will reveal our best affections.

Then shalt thou delight thyself in the LORD; and I will cause thee to ride upon the high places of the earth, and feed thee with the heritage of Jacob thy father: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it.

 Isaiah 58:14 (KJV)

Isaiah 58_14 - God Will Reveal Our Best Affections

The Lord will reveal himself to us as the delightful focus of our best affections and the beautiful subject of our thoughts and meditations if we make the Sabbath a delight. We will discover more pleasure in serving God if we enjoy it more. If we approach our work with joy, we will finish it feeling satisfied and be able to declare, “It is wonderful to be here, good to come near to God.”

1 Corinthians 13:4-7 – Love is patient and kind, and so is trust.

“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.”

1 Corinthians 13:4-7 (KJV)

1 Corinthians 13_4-7 - Love Is Patient And Kind, And So Is Trust

Paul starts by outlining the enlivening and edifying characteristics of godly love that are so absent in the lives of these uninspired believers.

The first two manifestations of love that Paul offers to this unspiritual group are long-suffering and patient endurance in the face of provocation, as well as a kindness that puts the needs of others first. For love is patient, and love is kind.

Jude 1:1 – Deepen your relationship with God.

Jude, the servant of Jesus Christ, and brother of James, to them that are sanctified by God the Father, and preserved in Jesus Christ, and called.

Jude 1:1 (KJV)

Jude 1_1 - Deepen Your Relationship With God

Jude maintained close contact with the Lord Jesus, calling those of us who have been sanctified and kept in Christ to deepen our relationship with God through this friendship, just as James did.

2 Chronicles 14:11 – Whatever your issue may be, God has the power to solve it.

And Asa cried unto the LORD his God, and said, LORD, it is nothing with thee to help, whether with many, or with them that have no power: help us, O LORD our God; for we rest on thee, and in thy name we go against this multitude. O LORD, thou art our God; let not man prevail against thee.

2 Chronicles 14:11 (KJV)

2 Chronicles 14_11 - Whatever Your Issue May Be, God Has The Power To Solve It

He recognized that it was nothing for God to help. Helping doesn’t diminish God in any way. Whatever your issue may be, God has the power to solve it. God can do nothing to help. We remark, “Oh, this is a serious issue. Oh, this is challenging. Oh, this is very difficult.”

For God, no. Only from the perspective of what we as humans can see. Talking about difficulty when God is involved is impossible. It is nothing for Thee to assist, whether with many or those who lack power, O Lord.

God can cure cancer just as quickly as he treats an earache. The only issue is with our concept, for we doubt God’s plan for us.

 Matthew 11:25 – His purpose.

At that time Jesus answered and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes.

 Matthew 11:25 (KJV)

 Matthew 11_25 - His Purpose

God has a beautiful purpose in choosing specific people for himself from among the despised vulgar rather than from the nobles, whose high position would have been a greater ornament to the name of Christ, even though he has the entire globe at his disposal.

But in this instance, Christ withholds his followers from a vain and arrogant imagination so they won’t dare to mock that low and obscure state of his Church, in which he takes pleasure and joy. He rises above the world and thinks about God’s secret decrees to more totally suppress the curiosity that always arises in human brains. He hopes to inspire others to join him in admiring these decrees.

Colossians 2:7 – Establish God’s Word of truth in our hearts.

Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving.

Colossians 2:7 (KJV)

Colossians 2_7 - Establish God'S Word Of Truth In Our Hearts

We must establish, bolster, and increase our confidence in our Lord Jesus, who has granted us forgiveness of sins and abundant life.

By faith in the only begotten Son of God, we are to be solidly established in God’s Word and the integrity of the Scripture. Therefore, to live our lives in subjection to the Holy Spirit of God, by confidence in our Saviour, Jesus Christ, and with gratitude in our hearts, we must establish God’s Word of truth and count it to be true.

Romans 2:17 – What comes from God is reliable.

Behold, thou art called a Jew, and restest in the law, and makest thy boast of God,

Romans 2:17 (KJV)

Romans 2_17 - What Comes From God Is Reliable

The accusation against the Jews was “sitting in the law.” To “find rest, comfort, or support” is to “rest” (epanapauo). Because they possessed the law, the Jews felt secure. They put their faith in the law because they knew that it came from God and was therefore reliable.

Additionally, they believed in the law because people desired to have something to rely on. The Old Testament provided these necessities and gave the Jews a sense of security. They felt very safe, as evidenced by the usage of the present tense. The Jews boasted of playing the leader that God had expected of His people. These boasts, though, were lies. Jews and Gentiles both committed sin. They did not serve as lights but rather added to the darkness.

Job 31:24 – Place your trust in God.

If I have made gold my hope, or have said to the fine gold, Thou art my confidence;

Job 31:24 (KJV)

Job 31_24 - Place Your Trust In God

Job encourages us in this verse to place our trust in God rather than in gold or other earthly possessions. The unwise would put their hopes on their riches as if it were a token from God, but we are called to look to the author and finisher of our faith and trust in him.

Isaiah 26:14 –

They are dead, they shall not live; they are deceased, they shall not rise: therefore hast thou visited and destroyed them, and made all their memory to perish.

Isaiah 26:14 (KJV)

We are reminded of the oppression of the Israelites in this verse. God punished those who persecuted His people, who have died and vanished. Historians cannot retrieve many of their names because they have been forgotten.

Romans 1:12 – Put your faith first.

That is, that I may be comforted together with you by the mutual faith both of you and me.

 Romans 1:12 (KJV)

Paul had gone through many hardships and knew that one day he might be given over to the gentiles and even have to stand before Caesar. However, Paul was aware that nothing could ever take away from him the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus, and that he was entirely in God’s hands. He wanted the saints in Rome to be convinced of this same truth, and he encouraged them to hold fast to their faith and stand firmly on the truth of God’s gospel.

Galatians 5:6 – Christ-centered faith is what saves.

For in Jesus Christ neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision; but faith which worketh by love.

Galatians 5:6 (KJV)

Christ-centered faith is what saves. God’s Spirit operates within our hearts in a love-based way. Not conflict, not attempting, but love is what makes it work. And I’m not interested in any kindSpiritlationship with God that makes me fight with my brother or act irrationally; it makes me judgmental, I guess. Again, faith is what makes love work.

1 Timothy 1:2

Unto Timothy, my own son in the faith: Grace, mercy, and peace, from God our Father and Jesus Christ our Lord.

1 Timothy 1:2 (KJV)

This illustrates the significant role that faith had in Paul’s life. Along with saving faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, Timothy had also shown the same moral character and spiritual prowess as his master.

Micah 7:5 – The sad immorality in today’s relationships.

Trust ye not in a friend, put ye not confidence in a guide: keep the doors of thy mouth from her that lieth in thy bosom.

Micah 7:5 (KJV)

This is not said to diminish the value of friendship, discourage the development of it with agreeable people, or discourage confidence in a true friend, which is one of life’s greatest blessings, but rather to illustrate the sad degeneracy of the time in which men who pretended to be friends were so overwhelmingly dishonest and unfaithful that there was no dependence to be had on them.

1 Timothy 1:19 – Cling to your faith.

Holding faith, and a good conscience; which some having put away concerning faith have made shipwreck:

1 Timothy 1:19 (KJV)

As Christians, we are told to “cling to your faith,” yet we can either obey this command or disobey God’s Word. As God’s children, we either put our faith in the Bible and submit to the Holy Spirit, in which case we are holding fast to our belief in Christ and maintaining a clear conscience.

Psalm 40:4 – Trust in God.

Blessed is that man that maketh the LORD his trust, and respecteth not the proud, nor such as turn aside to lies.

Psalm 40:4 (KJV)

A tremendous blessing comes to the one who completely trusts the Lord and does not depend on the self-sufficient or liars. Because of this, they are safe and secure in the Lord, have access to all of God’s grace’s blessings via him, are at peace with themselves now, and will spend eternity with him in bliss;
