Proverbs 31:26 - Bible verses about marriage and divorce

A wise woman is a woman full of wisdom, her mouth speaks wisdom always. One effective way of identifying a wise woman in any place, family, or organization is by what proceeds out of her mouth. A wise woman will never speak carelessly because she is fully aware of the power that lies in her tongue.

A wife of noble character is her husband’s crown, but a disgraceful wife is like decay in his bones.

Proverbs 12:4 - Bible verses about marriage and divorce

Proverbs 14:1 – A wise puts her resources to good use.

Every wise woman buildeth her house: but the foolish plucketh it down with her hands.

~Proverbs 14:1

Proverbs 14:1 - Bible verses about marriage and divorce

Solomon points to us a big difference between a wise and a foolish woman.

The phrases “intelligent” and “foolish” are used in the book of Proverbs to describe persons who obey God or reject Him (Proverbs 1:7; 3:5–8).

A wise woman puts her money and resources into good use and also, she puts it into church ministry for the glory of God and the welfare of her family and others to whom she ministers.

Titus 2:3-5 – A wise woman possesses exemplary behaviors.

The aged women likewise, that they be in behavior as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things.

~Titus 2:3-5

Paul advised the older women to be exemplary behavior to the younger ones as expected of them. Again, this implies clear thinking, patience, and a lack of envy and hate.

Paul also advises the women not to be slanderers or see getting involved in malicious gossip. Neither should they be slaves to much wine, but rather teachers of good things.

Proverbs 31:10-31 – She possesses great value.

Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies.

~Proverbs 31:10(KJV)

Despite the fact that many people still ask, “Who can find a decent woman?” Her value is significantly greater than rubies.

The answer can be found at the end of Proverbs: “A lady who fears the LORD will be commended.”

The Godly characteristics of this virtuous lady are impossible in our own strength, for all deeds of the body, good or ill, are rooted in the fruit of the old sin nature and are rejected by the Lord.

She who aspires to be holy and virtuous, generous and good, however, may only do it via the force of Christ’s indwelling life and not by our own strength.

Ephesians 5:22-24 – A wise woman submits to her husband.

Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord.

~Ephesians 5:22-24

First and foremost, wives are instructed to submit to their own husbands as if they are submitting to God.

Our submission should be based on treating others “as if they were the Lord.” In other words, submission is not based on the other person’s character or performance.

Instead, the husband is treated unconditionally out of love for him and for God. Wives are to love their spouses regardless of whether they believe he “deserves” it or not.

It’s also worthy of note that this is about marriage, not abuse. Anyone who is in an abusive circumstance must put their own safety first.

Proverbs 13:10 – Arrogance, insolence, self-importance, and conceit are characteristics of a wise woman.

Only by pride cometh contention: but with the well advised is wisdom. ~Proverbs 13:10

Pride is a bad germ that spreads throughout society, causing all forms of evil and strife.

Arrogance, insolence, self-importance, and conceit are just a few words that represent pride in various ways.

Boasting and bluster, condescension and scorn, superiority and swagger, vanity and immodesty are all examples of pride. And king Solomon tells us to guide against it.

Titus 2:5 – She has self-control.

To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed.

~Titus 2:5

In this verse of the bible, Paul gives advice to young ladies on how to live virtuous lives. He concentrates on a few key areas.

First and foremost, young ladies must be “self-controlling” or “wise,” a quality that is also expected of older men in verse 2.

Young women are to be “homemakers” or “active at home and also they are also to be “pure.”

Paul emphasizes the importance of women caring for their homes.

Proverbs 14:33 – A wise woman finds knowledge.

Wisdom resteth in the heart of him that hath understanding: but that which is in the midst of fools is made known.

~Proverbs 12:4

There are two significant differences between wise folks and fools. To begin with, a wise woman possesses knowledge and insight, but a fool is both uninformed and arrogant.

Second, a smart woman’s humility allows him to keep his wisdom to himself, but a fool’s pride encourages him to spew out his ignorance.

A person who seeks to learn gradually will find knowledge, which will help them to apply wisdom, as taught in the book of Proverbs.

Proverbs 14:1-35 – A woman’s role in the home can make or break it.

Every wise woman buildeth her house: but the foolish plucketh it down with her hands.

~Proverbs 14:1

Wisdom is the foundation of success. It assesses the current situation and considers ways to improve it.

Many homes have been built and cared for by a Godly, knowledgeable lady, the same way many homes have been destroyed because of the ungodly wife.

A folly wife tears down her home with her actions and inactions.

Instead of enhancing and strengthening what already exists, foolishness demonstrates its destructive character. A woman’s role in the home can make or break it.

Proverbs 31:10 – A wise woman is Godly

An excellent wife, who can find? For her worth is far above jewels.

~ Proverbs 31:10 (NASB)

We find king Lemuel, which means “devoted to God,” offering grateful praise for his mother’s wisdom and virtue when in search of a Godly wife.

Following his mother’s godly advice about the dangers of wayward women and strong drink, she tells him characteristics to look out for in a Godly woman.

She is capable and knowledgeable; she consoles and encourages, and her husband and children praise her for her wisdom and honesty, as well as her compassion and mercy.

She is frugal and hardworking; sensible and self-disciplined, giving and inventive… and she is clad with dignity and strength, integrity and kindness – goodness and grace.

What does the bible say about a wise woman?

The Bible does not mention “wise woman,” but it does say that God bestows wisdom on those who seek it. The book of Proverbs in the Old Testament is devoted to the subject of wisdom, and Ecclesiastes 12:11-14 says:

The wise’s words are goads, and their collected sayings are securely buried nails—all provided by one Shepherd. Be on the lookout for anything else, my kid. There is no end to the number of books that can be written, and considerable study exhausts the body.
