Bible verses about love of God for us

Love is more than just a feeling. It’s an action. When we follow Jesus and learn to love others the way He loved, it sets the example of true love for future generations to follow. Read through these Bible verses about the love of God for us!

1 John 3:16 – Love of God as Shown on The Cross

Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.

~ 1 John 3:16

It was love that made the almighty God bring His only begotten Son into the world to be the sin-sacrifice for the entire human race, and love made Jesus lay down His life for us.

It was love that drove the Lord Jesus to willingly be executed on a horrible cross so that everyone who trusted in Him would not perish but have eternal life.

Romans 5:5 – The gift of the Holy Spirit

And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.

~ Romans 5:5

It is the conviction that what we hope for in Christ will come to pass, as well as the assurance that what we cannot see exists.

It’s holding fast to the gospel of grace while believing the Bible to be true, even when the evidence in the natural world contradicts our thinking. Despite the fact that our physical senses testify to the contrary.

Who was given to us,” says Paul, “because the love of God has been poured out within our hearts through the Holy Spirit, Who was given to us.”

Romans 5:6-8 – God’s Love brings Salvation to Humanity

For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly.

~ Romans 5:6-8

Paul encouraged his audience to have faith in God, saying that our faith will never be disappointed or put to shame. Why? Because God cares for us and loves us.

More precisely, through the Holy Spirit, He has poured His love into our hearts. Paul depicts God’s love for us as something we carry with us all of the time.

God’s love for us is demonstrated by Paul in Christ’s death for the ungodly, which Paul defines as all of humanity (Romans 3:10, 23).

This sacrifice was made while we were still sinners and defenseless. Nothing about us deserved to be saved. It was offered solely in God’s favor, and at the appropriate time.

Titus 3:4-5

But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared.

~ Titus 3:4-5

This scripture explains how to behave properly as a Christian. It explains the source of the transformation from immoral to transformed behavior: God Himself.

The kindness and love of God, our Savior, are specifically responsible for the change. God alone, not human efforts, is responsible for a believer’s altered life (Ephesians 2:8–9).

God’s benevolence and loving-kindness “emerged,” according to verse 3. This refers to the moment when a person comes to faith in Jesus and is saved. God’s benevolence and loving compassion “appear” in our lives at this point.

Jeremiah 29:11

For I know the plans I have for you”-[this is] the Lord’s declaration-“plans for [your] welfare, not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.

~ Jeremiah 29:11(HCSB)

Jeremiah wrote a letter of consolation to the exiled Jews in Babylon. His letter was addressed to the prophets, the queen-mother, and the elders and priests.

God’s plans for His people, he assured, were anchored in His never-failing faithfulness to them. He promised them future peace and magnificent hope, not a guarantee of retribution that would lead to their ultimate ruin and destruction.

Despite their disobedience to the holy one of Israel, God’s gracious thoughts toward His people, as well as the future plans He had set for them, were intended to prosper them and offer them peace and comfort, as well as safety and success.

Isaiah 54:10

For the mountains shall depart, and the hills be removed; but my kindness shall not depart from thee, neither shall the covenant of my peace be removed, saith the LORD that hath mercy on thee.

~ Isaiah 54:10

Our faith is founded on the sure promises of our all-powerful God, who reminds and has assured us that no weapon physical or spiritual will prosper against us His children.

Our faith is in the God of our salvation, for He has promised that every accusing voice will be quiet and dismissed because God has set His Word above His holy name.

It pleases the Lord to bless His children. He acts like a faithful husband who not only forgives but also restores his unfaithful wife to a place of blessed fellowship with him while also protecting her from all harm.

Galatians 2:20

I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

~ Galatians 2:20

The gospel’s central truth is that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, was buried, and was resurrected on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures.

Jesus was born into the race that He had created in order to pay the penalty for our sin – a penalty that we could never pay.

We are positioned in Christ when we are saved by faith. We are transferred from Adam’s fallen race to Christ’s Body, becoming a new creation in HIM.

We are associated with what He is and has accomplished. We are connected with Christ’s death in addition to being saved by His death: “I have been crucified with Christ,” Paul writes.

Jude 1:21

Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.

~ Jude 1:21

Jude gives believers a practical means to be spiritually strong in the face of apostates’ attempts to ruin their faith in this verse.

If believers stay focused on God’s love for them and execute His will, they will remain strong.

If we fulfill Jesus’ commands, we will be able to remain in His love. Jude concludes with another admonition.

He exhorts his audience to look forward to the mercy Jesus will show us when He returns. Although His current kindness involves forgiveness, it will also include eternal life in paradise and all of its blessings when Jesus returns.

1 Corinthians 13:13

And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.

~ 1 Corinthians 13:13

There are three gifts and graces that stand out among the many that are poured forth in great abundance into the lives of believers.

We are taught that these three spiritual fruits of God’s tremendous grace – faith, hope, and love – will endure, remain, and abide in the everlasting state.

We live by faith, not by sight, and the glorious hope we have in Christ and His coming does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts via the Holy Spirit, who has been given to everyone.

Zephaniah 3:17

The Lord your God is among you, a warrior who saves. He will rejoice over you with gladness. He will bring [you] quietness with His love. He will delight in you with shouts of joy.”

~ Zephaniah 3:17(HCSB)

God is more than the Creator; He is the LORD God, Who dwells among us, loving, caring, protecting, defending, and indwelling us, and Who died so that we might have life and have it abundantly.

This is as true for the church as it was for Israel, for God’s word to His people is certain, stable, reliable, and truthful.

He is always close by, ready to assist and cure; to hold and carry us in His everlasting arms. This goes to show God’s love for us his children.

Bible verse about what God says about his love for us

There’s not a lot of scripture that God actually speaks. It’s mostly written by humans. That being said, here is a great bible verse about what God says about his love for us.

John 3:16

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

~ John 3:16

This Bible portion teaches that Christ committed a sacrificial death on the Cross in order to pay the price for our sin and destroy its power over us because of His love for us.

This is the basis of Christianity: God loves the world so much that He came as Jesus and died for us so that anybody who trusts in Him will be rescued from sin.

It is, without a doubt, the most well-known and memorized section of any holy text in human history. The verse is a one-sentence summation of the gospel of Christ.

Ephesians 2:4-5

But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us.

~ Ephesians 2:4-5

We shall never be able to comprehend the depths of God’s love for us, because His love is boundless and infinite. Nonetheless, God’s mercy is abundant toward us, who were born dead in trespasses and sins.

God’s love is one of His many essential traits, for God is love in and of Himself; but, when God’s love is expressed toward humans, it manifests itself in mercy, grace, and compassion.

God revealed His love for us via kindness and mercy towards us by sending His only begotten Son to die for us.

Psalm 103:11

For as the heaven is high above the earth, so great is his mercy toward them that fear him.

~ Psalm 103:11

The Lord’s constant affection and love for people who honor Him are described by David in this bible verse. God’s love, is as high as the skies above the earth.

David was known to look up into the sky and marvel at the Lord’s creative power (Psalm 8:3–4; 19:1). David, like us, probably didn’t comprehend the mind-boggling distance between the planet and the stars.

Nonetheless, he recognized them as being very far from the planet, and he realized that God’s love for His people went even beyond.
The best measure of God’s love for us is Christ’s death on the cross for us.

Jeremiah 31:3

The LORD hath appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee.

~ Jeremiah 31:3

This lovely Bible verse addressed to the people of Israel, declares that God has loved them with an everlasting love in compassionate words.

It declares that the Lord will undoubtedly keep His word and bring His chosen people back to their homeland.

It serves as a reminder that He drew people to Himself out of love for them, and that His love for them is eternal. It gives them hope that He will keep the promises He gave to their forefather Abraham and his descendants for all time.

1 John 4:16

And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him.

~ 1 John 4:16

This Bible verse explains who God is, what He has done for us, what He is doing now, and what He will accomplish in the future for us because of His love for us.

Through the witness of the Spirit of His Love, we are participants in the Father’s love as Christians.

The Father of Love has provided the Holy Spirit of Love to reveal the Son of His Love. “For we have known and believed the immense love that God hath to us,” this lovely fact fills us with excellent reassurance and links our hearts to His eternal heart of love.

John 15:13

Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.

~ John 15:13

Christ was made a sacrifice for the sins of the entire world, yet He gladly went to the cross as a freewill offering of love for the sake of us all, who are His body, the church.

And Christ loved and treasured the church so much that He gave His life for it – no one has greater love than this, that a man lay down His life for his friends.

We are to remain in Him, to reflect His love, and to love others as He has loved us.

We can only begin to allow Jesus’ love to flow into us and through us to others as we grow in our love for Him and all that He has done for us.

Psalm 86:15

But thou, O Lord, art a God full of compassion, and gracious, longsuffering, and plenteous in mercy and truth.

~ Psalm 86:15

This verse can be seen as a Prayer of David. This psalm is noteworthy because David shows us God’s compassion for us, his children.

Despite our numerous sins, God is plenteous in mercy towards us, gracious, and loves us always.

Psalm 136:26

O give thanks unto the God of heaven: for his mercy endureth for ever.

~ Psalm 136:26

Gratefulness of heart to the Lord God Almighty runs through this magnificent song of praise like a golden stream.

The truth of God’s goodness is rehearsed in a repeated chorus. “O give thanks to the LORD; for He is good: for His mercy endures forever,” it says, again and again, reminding us that God’s love and grace are present in every aspect of our life.

The recurring, musical heartbeat that caresses every part of the created cosmos rejoices in the fact that His loving-kindness endures forever, and His firm mercies continue forever.

His faithful love is never-ending, and His unchanging goodness spreads into the farthest reaches of eternity.

Deuteronomy 7:9

Know therefore that the LORD thy God, he is God, the faithful God, which keepeth covenant and mercy with them that love him and keep his commandments to a thousand generations.

~ Deuteronomy 7:9

We are to know without a doubt that the eternal creator of heaven and earth, Who has entered an everlasting convent with humanity, is our Lord and God, and that He loves us.

We must be certain that God, who had adopted us as His children, exists. He has sealed us with His Holy Spirit, who has come to reside within our mortal bodies.

The Holy Spirit has given us an everlasting certainty that we are saved, sanctified, glorified, and have been given eternal life in His sight.

He has promised mercy to everyone who loves Him and fulfills His commandments, as wonderful as His unconditional love.

1 Peter 5:6-7

Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time.

~ 1 Peter 5:6-7

Peter provides advice to the younger generation in this verse, telling them to be submissive to those who are older in the faith and to dress in humility toward one another.

These new Christians must cultivate a teachable spirit and an attitude of respect for those who have matured in the Lord – for training in righteousness; cultivating a spirit of humility and developing in grace takes time, more time, and a lot of time.

Bible verses about how much God loves us

God loves each and every one of us. This is a simple fact we as Christians know all too well, but witnessing His love in action through others can be sure to melt our hearts! Here are some Bible verses that talk about how much God loves us.

Romans 8:35

Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?

~ Romans 8:35

Despite the fact that suffering endures, Paul urged his readers to remember that God is still on our side. He has loved us since the beginning of time (Ephesians 1:4).

He has demonstrated His love for us by sacrificing His only Son to allow us to be adopted as His children (John 3:16–18).

Trials, suffering, persecution for our faith in Him, hunger, lack of clothing or shelter, bodily threats, or death by violence are among the worst things that can happen in this life, according to Paul. But none of these can keep us from experiencing Christ’s love.

1 John 3:1

Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not.

~ 1 John 3:1

God’s grace saves us, and that grace comes from the Father’s heart of divine love.

The Father’s love is what drove Him to send His only begotten Son to die as the one and only perfect atonement for our sin.

The Holy Spirit was sent by God out of love to be our ever-present, indwelling heavenly Comforter. And it is God’s love that has conferred the title of “children” on everyone who believes in Christ Jesus as our sin-bearing redeemer.

1 John 4:18

There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.

~ 1 John 4:18

We do not need to be afraid when we feel God’s love in our lives and share it with others. God’s love in our life is a two-way relationship that provides us confidence and security.

The ability to live out His love is a sign of our faith in Him, as well as a path for us to follow His will and receive eternal blessings.

The sins of the believer have been forgiven completely because of God’s love for us.

Psalm 36:5-7

Your lovingkindness, O LORD, extends to the heavens, Your faithfulness reaches to the skies.

~ Psalm 36:5(NASB)

David bemoans men’s evil in Psalm 36 before contrasting it with God’s lovingkindness and immense goodness.

God is every loving to His children and ever ready to forgive and pardon their sins depicting the evil nature of man.

The gushing loving-kindness, compassionate-mercy, and unmerited gracious pardon that flowed from the veins of the Lord Jesus when He reached out His arms of love stand in stark contrast to the sad bitterness, revengeful thoughts of the ungodly that so often overwhelm the brains of sinful man.

1 Corinthians 13:4

Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up.

~ 1 Corinthians 13:4

Paul begins this Bible chapter by listing the nourishing and edifying attributes of Godly love, which were sorely lacking in some believers’ lives.

Love is a patient person. Without animosity, love actively waits for others. This includes being patient when someone is wounded or abused.

Love is generous. Kindness entails acting for the benefit of others even when it is not in our own best interests.

Envy does not exist in love. In the Corinthian church, envy was alive and well, perhaps including envy of others’ spiritual abilities and material success. Love puts self-interest aside and rejoices in the accomplishments of Christian brothers and sisters.

How wide and deep is the love of God?

This question can be answered in a variety of ways. Our first response is based on personal experience. Because it is flawless, divine love, God’s love is greater and deeper than we can ever grasp. God’s love is always present, even though we don’t always feel or see it. “Love never fails,” says the Bible (1 Corinthians 13:8).

Another way to respond to this issue is to consider how broad and deep our love for God is. If our love for God is shallow, we will not be able to comprehend the breadth and depth of God’s love; nevertheless, as our love for God grows, we will be able to comprehend the enormity of his love.

Finally, the most significant response comes directly from Jesus. “Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends,” he said of his Father (John 15:13). That’s how vast and deep God’s love is — so vast and deep that Jesus, in obedience to his Father, gave up his life on a cross.
