26 Important Bible Verses on Eternal Life – You Have Eternal Life

Bible Verses on Eternal Life

I believe it is critical to know these 26 important Bible verses on eternal life. For a couple of reasons, it’s always a good idea to make sure you know them.

You may not remember them all at first, but knowing a handful can help you sift through the things you need to do for eternal life, and remembering them will help you find the others. That is why I wrote this post: to assist you in learning about eternal life from the Bible and other sources.

What does the Bible says about eternal life?

God’s gift of eternal life is a great thing. To receive this gift, however, you must first believe that Jesus is God’s Son and that He died for your sins, was buried, and rose again. Do you think this is true? If this is the case, you can gain eternal life right now by praying to the Lord.

The Bible tells us that we are all sinners (Romans 3:23). The result of sin is spiritual death (separation from God) both now and in eternity. But God loves you so much He provided a way for you to be forgiven of your sins through His Son Jesus Christ (John 3:16).

All have sinned, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord (Romans 6:23).

Bible verses on eternal life

I’ve included some biblically-based responses to queries individuals have had throughout history, as well as some notable bible verses on eternal life that many Christians use to reinforce their beliefs.

I’m sure you don’t need anything else to be convinced that eternal life is real, but just in case you’re still skeptical, here are some Bible verses on eternal life.

John 3:16 – Eternal Life and Belief in Christ.

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

~ John 3:16 (NIV)

This is a one-sentence synopsis of the entire Bible. Nonetheless, the verses that follow are equally important for grasping the Christian message. Christ was not sent to judge the world, but to save it.

This is a manifestation of God’s unfathomable love. Those who do not believe in Jesus Christ, on the other hand, are condemned in God’s eyes. Because of our proclivity for sin, many people choose darkness over light.

John 3:18 – Eternal Life and Salvation

He that believeth on Him is not condemned. But he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten son of God”

~ John 3:18

As many people mistakenly assume, God is not a harsh and merciless potentate who waits for every opportunity to pour out His anger on mankind and punish the human race individually and collectively.

God began His wonderful redemption plan to save people from eternal separation from Himself, with the ability to touch and save every person born into this fallen race.

God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but rather that the world could be saved through Him.

Acts 13:46 – Eternal Life is Free

And Paul and Barnabas spoke out boldly, saying, “It was necessary that the word of God be spoken first to you. Since you thrust it aside and judge yourselves unworthy of eternal life, behold, we are turning to the Gentiles.

~ Acts 13:46 (ESV).

No one is deserving of eternal life because of anything he has done, for it is a free gift from God; and all who are conscious of themselves, and of the due demerit of sin, deem themselves unworthy to obtain eternal life.

Acts 13:47 Let other find Eternal Life through you.

For so the Lord has commanded us, saying, “‘I have made you a light for the Gentiles, that you may bring salvation to the ends of the earth.’”

~ Acts 13:47 (ESV)

You are the light of the world in your actions, lifestyle, and your Christian life through which others will find Christ hence eternal life.

Tell yourself that “I will let others find eternal life through my life in Christ” and many will be saved.

John 10:27-28 – Follow Christ and Get Eternal Life

My sheep hear my voice and I know them, and they follow me and I give unto them eternal life, and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.

~ John 10:27-28

Jesus uses the sheep and shepherd metaphors that He used after providing sight to a blind man.

Jesus emphasizes that His teachings and miracles are all congruent with Messiah prophecies, yet these men refuse to embrace Him. This leads to another assassination attempt on Jesus’ life, which He manages to dodge.

The eternal life that Jesus has given to His “sheep” cannot and will not be taken, revoked, or lost.

Romans 5:17  Eternal Life Through Grace.

For if, by the trespass of the one, death reigned through the one; much more shall they that receive the abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness reign in life through the one, even Jesus Christ.

~ Romans 5:17 (ERV).

We do not have control over physical life. We are ruling in spiritual life, which means that we are no longer isolated from God’s presence.

We are ruling in spiritual life, which means that we are no longer isolated from God’s presence. As a result, the death that once reigned in spiritual death. Physical death continues to reign since we will all die, whether we are Christians or not.

Spiritual death, or estrangement from God, does not reign for those who receive an abundance of grace and the free gift of righteousness.

Romans 5:18 – Receiving Eternal Life with Faith

So then as through one trespass the judgment came unto all men to condemnation; even so through one act of righteousness the free gift came unto all men to justification of life.

~ Romans 5:18 (ERV)

All of those who are born IN ADAM are eternally doomed, but all who are born-again IN CHRIST are not condemned but are pronounced righteous by God and have eternal life – for those who are in Christ face no condemnation.

The penalty of being in Adam is death. “for by one man’s transgression we are all made sinners”  but God’s gift is eternal life for those who are in Christ Jesus, for His one act of righteousness ends in justification of life for all who believe.

We are established in eternal union with Christ via faith – the God-Man Who is our Redeemer and the Head of God’s New Creation.

Romans 5:19 – Grace and Righteousness Leads to Eternal Life

For as through the one man’s disobedience the many were made sinners, even so through the obedience of the one shall the many be made righteous.

~ Romans 5:19 (ERV)

Christ’s obedient act of self-giving for others reconciles all who come to him with God and one another.

We receive a share of the divine gifts of righteousness and eternal life promised by God through Christ as participants in Christ’s faith and faithfulness.

As a result, we no longer participate in Adam’s sin but instead discover eternal life via Christ’s obedience to God.

Romans 5:21(ERV) – that, as sin reigned in death, even so might grace reign through righteousness unto eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord

When does Eternal Life Begin?

One may ask “By the way, When does eternal life begin”“? If eternal life means endless life or everlasting life, it may be logical to see eternal life simply as continuity of life already in existence. Moreover, it could be understood from the Bible that everyone is destined to live eternally. The only difference is the location. It talks about the eternal kingdom and eternal fire.

What is Eternal Life?

Eternal Life generally refers to life after death according to Bible principles.

May I state here categorically that following Christ’s gift of righteousness to every believer is the gift of eternal life?

The Bible stated in Hebrews 1:11 that one of the reasons why Christ came and died is to deliver those who are held in eternal bondage of fear of death. It is therefore amazing to discover that very many professing believers today still manifest this same fear in many ways.

Such folks represent the Scripture as insincere when it says we have been given eternal life. They still live in doubt as to whether they will get there or not. Just like the Jews in Acts 13:46 “Judged themselves unworthy of everlasting life”. And in Bible Verses on Eternal Life, Acts 13:47 says that “as many as were ordained to eternal life believed”.

The book of 1 John 5:11-13 reads thus

“And this is the record that God has given to us eternal life and this life is in His Son. He that hath the Son hath life and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life. These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have
eternal life and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.

What is the difference between eternal life and everlasting life?

According to the Bible, there is no difference between eternal life and everlasting as they both have the same meaning. Here are two Bible translations of the same Bible verse.

Romans 6:23 (KJV) – “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”

Romans 6:23 (GOD’S WORD® Translation) “The payment for sin is death, but the gift that God freely gives is everlasting life found in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

Why is eternal life important?

Eternal life is Spirit-driven life. The Spirit of God in a believer introduces him into eternal life or Kingdom life, the life of Christ. The spirit does not die not even when the body gives up ghosts.

See what Jesus says in St. John 11:25-26.

“I am the resurrection and the life. He that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live. And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die.
Believeth thou this?”

These Bible Verses on Eternal Life are important to every child of God because if a man appreciates the value of what he possesses, he will definitely go all out to protect it. Again if a man understands the reality and simplicity of God’s gift of grace, he will grab
same with all his heart.

My dear reader, God has given us eternal life in Christ Jesus. He has already given us. It is here with us and He is not taking it back.

What a person must do to receive eternal life?

A person willing to receive eternal life must, first of all, accept Jesus Christ as his Lord and Saviour and follow the following steps:-

1. Receiving Eternal Life Through faith in Jesus Christ.

John 14:6 (CBS) – Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

Recognize and confess your sin to God. Accept God’s offer of a Savior on your behalf.

“Whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved” (Romans 10:13).

The Son of God, Jesus Christ, died for your sins and rose again on the third day. You will be saved if you believe this good news and put your faith in the Lord Jesus as your Savior.

2. Seek the kingdom of God rather than earthly riches.

Luke 12:13–15 (CSB) – Someone from the crowd said to him, “Teacher, tell my brother to divide the inheritance with me.” “Friend,” he said to him, “who appointed me a judge or arbitrator over you? ” He then told them, “Watch out and be on guard against all greed, because one’s life is not in the abundance of his possessions.”

What did Jesus say to the worried man regarding his inheritance? (According to Luke 12:13–15.) What exactly is covetousness? (A strong yearning for riches or the assets of another person.) What do people want these days? Why is coveting dangerous?

3. To receive eternal life, A believer should be willing to forsake all.

Jesus summoned his apostles and a few of his disciples to a life of close personal discipleship with him.

This is evident today in the priesthood and the monastic lives of monks, religious orders, and nuns. It is not for everyone, but only for a small percentage of those who have that calling.

Everyone, on the other hand, is called to love God with all of their mind, heart, soul, and strength, and to put him first, before even their near and dear ones, in addition to being good wives, parents, children, relatives, workers, employees, and so on.

4. Desire spiritual wealth vigorously.

The real man is the regenerated spirit indwelling the believer even now. That same Spirit is joining with our spirit to testify that we are sons of God. He preserves us eternally Meanwhile, Jesus says in John 8:12

“I am the light of the world. He that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.

The believer follows Jesus life and principles here on earth and perpetually enjoys eternal life. You have eternal life.

Bible Verses on eternal life after death

Many Christians seek Bible Verses on Eternal Life After Death because they do not want to believe in Hell for themselves, a loved one, or anybody else.

If you’ve come here, it’s probably because you’re looking for hope that eternal death isn’t the end of the world. Let’s face it: it can be terrifying.

You may be asking how God can have love while sending individuals to eternal death. Wouldn’t He want everyone around Him? And how can someone who has been sentenced to Hell escape?

John 5:24 – Belive in Christ and Have Eternal Life.

“I tell you the truth, those who listen to my message and believe in God who sent me have eternal life. They will never be condemned for their sins, but they have already passed from death into life.

~ John 5:24 (NLT)

According to Jesus, those who reject His teaching insult God, and only those who believe in Him will have eternal life. Jesus back up his assertions with several types of evidence, all of which establish His ministry is true.

Romans 6:23 – Eternal Life is a Gift to Man

For the wages of sin is death, but the gracious gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Romans 6:23 (NASB)

The purpose and destiny of humanity are hardly never taught from pulpits.

The shed blood of Jesus of Nazareth not only cleanses us from our sins, but it also prepares us to accept what Romans 6:23 refers to as God’s free and undeserved “gift”—”eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

It’s important to note that it’s termed a gift because it’s not something you earned or something you’ve always had. Immortality is bestowed to us without regard for our personal merit, because no one could ever deserve it.

Matthew 25:46 – Eternal Life after Death

“And they will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.”

~ Matthew 25:46 (CSB)

The Bible makes it perfectly plain that it is an eternal place.

The end of existence is not an eternal goal. Heaven is eternal life with God, as well as a place to enjoy all that God has to offer.

Hell, on the other hand, is perpetual death without God and a place where every part of you that comes from God is gradually removed.

Matthew 25:41

Then he will say also to those on the left hand, ‘Depart from me, you cursed, into the eternal fire which is prepared for the devil and his angels;

~ Matthew 25:41 (WEB)

This is precisely what Jesus reminds us of. But he takes it a step farther. He also cautions us that people who are nasty and mean to others will experience ultimate calamity.

He tells us that the final justice will not be seen until the end of time. When he comes, however, each will be blessed in proportion to his or her dedication to him. Of course, serving him entails serving his people!

John 3:36

The one who believes in the Son has eternal life; but the one who does not obey the Son will not see life, but the wrath of God remains on him.”

~ John 3:36 (NASB)
