What do the Bible verses about worrying about tomorrow say?

Do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring worries of its own. Today’s trouble is enough for today.” Matthew 6:34.

Every day, we are confronted with a slew of problems. Worrying about tomorrow will not solve anything; instead, it will sap all of our strength for today.

Worrying about the future has a significant impact on one’s physical, mental, and spiritual well-being. It takes our minds away from God’s will and renders us ineffective in carrying out God’s work and our personal lives.

God does not want us to worry about anything. He wants to fix our gaze and heart on him because he is our creator and he knows what is best for us. You don’t need to worry about your well-being but rather do the right things and allow God to perfect his will in your life.

This Bible verse is saying don’t worry about what you have to do in the future because it will be there soon enough. It also tells us that we should focus on solving our troubles of today instead of worrying about other things that are coming up in the future.

Bible verse about not worrying about tomorrow

  1. Philippians 4:6 – Don’t be worried rather make your request known.

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. Philippians 4:6 (NIV)

We are encouraged to pray confidently about everything rather than worry about anything. We are to express our needs to the Lord, humbly presenting our petitions and thanking Him for all He has done.

God has given us the privilege to tender our request whenever we have one. He is always ready to meet our needs.

Do not worry about anything is not just a statement, it is a command given to all who believe and follow Christ. Being anxious and worried does not only show that we lack faith, but it is also a deliberate act of disobedience to God.

  1. Proverbs 3:5-6 – Don’t rely on your own understanding, trust God to help.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take. Proverbs 3:5-6 (NLT)

When we rely on understanding to conduct our affairs on Earth, we are bound to make mistakes that cause us to be concerned about the outcome.

Before making any decision or taking any action, we must always seek God’s guidance.

Trust God to help you deal with the issues that bother and trouble your heart. God does not want us to be concerned about tomorrow; instead, he wants us to rely on him and trust that he will help us.

  1. 1 Peter 5:7 – Do not worry cast your cares on him.

Casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.  1 Peter 5:7 (NKJV)

God has promised to bear our burdens and provide us with everything we require to live comfortably because he loves and cares for us.

Come to me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and my burden is light. Matthew 11:28-30 (NKJV)

From the verse above, Jesus is calling on those who are exhausted, worried, and anxious about their life. He is calling them so he can offer the rest.

This rest is a state of calmness and complete reliance on God and what he can do for us. Most times we try out things for ourselves. It does not turn well but wants us to come to him so he can help us.

  1. Jeremiah 29:11 – God has a plan for you, so why worry?

For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.  Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV)

You don’t need to worry about tomorrow, God has a better plan. He is much concerned about your wellbeing than you do.

As Christians, Christ exhorts us not to obsess over what we will eat, drink, or wear. He is aware of our most basic survival needs.

Unnecessary anxiety can steal our joy and peace.

With God by your side, all your needs will be met without any struggles, if only we will believe and rely on him completely.

  1. Psalm 57:7 – Don not worry but rather fix your heart on God.

My heart is fixed, O God, my heart is fixed: I will sing and give praise. Psalm 57:7 (KJV).

If you wouldn’t want to be worried about tomorrow, you should fix your attention on God. A heart fixed on God will never be troubled by the trials and tribulations of life.

We seek and desire many things, but only God knows what is good for us today, tomorrow, and in the future, and that’s why he wants us to keep our hearts fixed on him at all times.

  1. Romans 8:32 – God is not selfish to give all you need.

He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things? Romans 8:32 (NIV)

God is not selfish to give you all you need to survive and live a comfortable life here on earth. God never withheld anything from his children he loves, he is always willing to give us things. So why do even worry about tomorrow?

Most of the time, we focus on trivial issues that cause us to worry excessively. God wants us to focus solely on what is more important right now.

As much as we need to plan for the present and the future, we also need to focus on what is most important to us at the moment.

According to the verse above, Martha was very busy trying to accomplish many things at once. She was completely ignorant of what was more important to her. She wasn’t doing anything wrong, but the main issue was her concentration to what is important.

We must look for and focus on the things that are more relevant and important to us. Worrying about trivial matters will always make you anxious and perplexed.
